Novak Djokovic makes feelings clear on if he is Wimbledon favourite over Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner
Novak Djokovic has responded to his former coach Goran Ivanisevic’s bold statement about his 2025 Wimbledon title hopes.
The legendary Serbian is aiming to win a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon men’s crown and record-extending 25th major overall.
Djokovic has featured in all of the last six championship matches at the All England Club, with his most recent title coming in 2022. He was a runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz in both 2023 and 2024.
Ivanisevic, who coached Djokovic between 2019 and 2024, labelled the 38-year-old the man to beat at Wimbledon ahead of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
“In my view, Novak’s the favourite, no matter how sentimental that sounds,” the Croatian told Clay Tenis and RG Media.
“Alcaraz has beaten him twice, but last year Novak came after knee surgery, and in 2023 we all remember how close it was.
“Everyone says this is his last chance — I don’t agree. Plus, he’s the best grass-court player, experienced, he knows exactly what it takes here. It’ll be fascinating.”

Novak Djokovic’s ex-coach asked how many Grand Slams Carlos Alcaraz & Jannik Sinner will win
Djokovic battled past world No 11 Alex de Minaur 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the fourth round at the grass-court Grand Slam.
In his press conference after beating the Aussie, Djokovic was asked if he agrees with Ivanisevic’s assessment that he is the favourite.
“I love Goran, and I’m happy he loves me back, but I don’t think I’m a favourite against these guys at the moment. I think they are, both of them,” the world No 6 replied.
“But I do probably have my best chance here against them here probably, yeah. If it comes down to me facing one of them or two of them, which I hope so, it means I would proceed to finals all the way, then yeah, I’ll obviously look for my best game to win.
“I think I do have a chance. There’s no doubt about it. I think my results on grass even in the previous years are a testament to my confidence on this surface. I’ve been playing some really good tennis this year.
“So I feel good about myself. I feel confident. I feel motivated to go all the way. Let’s see what happens.”
Djokovic will face 22nd seed Flavio Cobolli in the quarter-finals.
