Novak Djokovic became the fourth oldest man to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon with his last 16 victory over Holger Rune at the 2024 Championships.

The Serbian has joined his former rival and fellow tennis icon Roger Federer on the list, with the Swiss holding the record for being the oldest player to reach the last eight in SW19.

Here, we look at the oldest players who have reached the men’s singles quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

4. Novak Djokovic – 37 years, 1 month (2024)

Djokovic, who turned 37 on May 22 this year, progressed to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon for the 15th time in his career at the 2024 event.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner defeated Vit Kopriva, Jacob Fearnley, Alexei Popyrin and Holger Rune en route to the last eight.

3. Roger Federer – 37 years, 11 months (2019)

In 2019, Federer reached a record 12th men’s final at Wimbledon — which was his 31st and last Grand Slam title match overall — the month before his 38th birthday.

The 20-time Major champion beat Lloyd Harris, Jay Clarke, Lucas Pouille, Matteo Berrettini, Kei Nishikori and Rafael Nadal, before losing to Djokovic in a thrilling final.

2. Ken Rosewall – 39 years, 8 months (1974)

Ken Rosewall holds the record for being the oldest player to reach a Wimbledon singles final for his run at the 1974 Championships, when he was 39 years and eight months old.

The Australian legend earned wins over Barry Phillips-Moore, Vijay Amritraj, Petr Kanderal, Roscoe Tanner, John Newcombe and Stan Smith en route to the championship match, where he lost to Jimmy Connors.

1. Roger Federer – 39 years, 10 months (2021)

Federer made his last Grand Slam appearance at Wimbledon in 2021 and he advanced to the last eight at a Major for the 58th and final time, and a record 18th time at the All England Club.

The eight-time Wimbledon champion saw off Adrian Mannarino, Richard Gasquet, Cameron Norrie and Lorenzo Sonego to reach the quarter-finals. In the last eight, the Swiss was beaten by Hubert Hurkacz in the last singles match of his illustrious career.
