Centre Court dominance

There was a slight wobble towards the end of the third set, but overall it was an incredible afternoon for Carlos Alcaraz, who downed Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) for a second straight Wimbledon title.

It is his fourth major title in as many finals, and he has become just the fifth player in the Open Era to achieve such an impressive early record.

Carlos Alcaraz – 4

It is now played four, won four for Alcaraz after his latest Wimbledon triumph.

The Spaniard won his first Slam title aged 19 at the 2022 US Open, downing Casper Ruud in a four-set final at Flushing Meadows.

Following that, he beat Djokovic in a five-set epic at SW19 last year, before picking up another five-set win over Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros last month.

Now, he can call himself a two-time Wimbledon champion, downing the Serbian again.

Naomi Osaka – 4

Much like Alcaraz, Japanese tennis icon Osaka has reached four Grand Slam finals, and has won them all.

The former world No 1 downed Serena Williams in straight sets to win her first major at the 2018 US Open, before edging past Petra Kvitova in a three-set thriller at the 2019 Australian Open.

Osaka then defeated Victoria Azarenka from a set down to reclaim her US Open title in 2020, before downing Jennifer Brady in the 2021 Australian Open final.

Now back on tour, she will be targeting future Slam victories.

Iga Swiatek – 5

The current WTA No 1, Swiatek has an exceptional final record – and has been faultless in major finals up to this point.

Swiatek stormed to her first major at the 2020 French Open, beating Sofia Kenin in straight sets, and regained her title in 2022 after defeating Coco Gauff.

The Pole defeated Ons Jabeur in straights in the 2022 US Open final, before battling past Karolina Muchova in a classic Roland Garros final in 2023.

She made it 5-0 this summer, downing Jasmine Paolini in Paris.

Monica Seles – 6

A true great of the game, Seles’ run to nine Grand Slam titles got off to an astonishing start.

She was just 17 years old when she overcame Steffi Graf to win her first major at the 1990 French Open, before beating Jana Novotna in the 1991 Australian Open final.

Seles then defeated Arantxa Sanchez Vicario to defend her Roland Garros crown and, after missing Wimbledon, beat Martina Navratilova to win her first US Open title that summer.

The former world No 1 then beat Mary Joe Fernandez and Graf to respectively defend her Australian Open and French Open titles in 1992, before a loss to Graf at SW19 snapped her unbeaten streak.

Roger Federer – 7

No one has won has stayed as unbeaten in Slam finals as long as Federer, who won his first seven major finals – reaching 31 in total.

The Swiss maestro won the first of his 20 major titles at Wimbledon in 2003, beating Australia’s Mark Philippoussis in straight sets.

Federer then won three of the four Slams up for grabs in 2004, beating Marat Safin in the Australian Open final, Andy Roddick at Wimbledon, and Lleyton Hewitt at the US Open.

He again beat Roddick at SW19 in the 2005 final, before beating Andre Agassi in the US Open final a few months later to go 6-0.

Victory in the 2006 Australian Open final over Marcos Baghdatis was the seventh win in as many finals, his streak snapped by Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros that spring.
