Novak Djokovic is wholly focused on winning the ATP Finals for a record-breaking seventh time but has season goals that go beyond Turin.

Djokovic also wants to bring glory to Serbia in the Davis Cup later this month.

Great Britain awaits Serbia in the last eight, with their tie set to get underway on 23 November in Malaga.

Speaking from Turin, Djokovic was unwilling to review his 2023 season just yet considering the Davis Cup last eight is still to come and the Finals are not yet in the bag.

“The season is not finished yet,” Djokovic said when asked where he will draw motivation from for next season.

“Obviously I still don’t know if I’m going to be qualified here.

“But Davis Cup is next week. I really would like to win the Davis Cup with Serbia. That’s a goal. Next week is an important week for us, for our nation. We’ll do our best.

“That’s where my thoughts are, then I’ll think about the next season.”

Djokovic believes that a holistic approach to wellness is the key to performing at a high level for such a long time.

He believes that everything from your diet to the people you surround yourself with cvan influence performance.

“Mental wellness is an area people are paying more attention to and deservedly so,” stated Djokovic.

“In an individual sport like this, you are on the court yourself and there is no one to help you when things go south. Of course, you have a team supporting you in the stands, but you have to work it out for yourself.

“I believe half of the mental work you need to put in is done before you even set foot on the court. If you fail to prepare, it is going to be a much more difficult mountain to climb and succeed on the court.

“You need to have a long-term and short-term strategy to find a way to win in the end and you understand that process more when you play for a long time.

“You need to be physically, mentally and emotionally stable to have a chance and I have to understand my body is responding differently than it was 10 years ago.

“This holistic approach is vital for all parts of your life. You need the right people around you, to eat well and if you try to suppress emotions, it will almost certainly surface on the court for me.”
