Roger Federer disappointed

Roger Federer “is done” when it comes to talk about the greatest player of all time (GOAT) in men’s tennis with the race now between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

The 40-year-old Federer’s last Grand Slam title came in 2018 when he won the Australian Open and, while as spent the past two years struggling with a serious knee injury, his two great rivals have gone from strength to strength.

Nadal won the 2020 French Open and this year’s Australian Open to move to 21 Grand Slams while Djokovic is tied with Federer on 20 majors after adding five Slams to his tally since the start of the 2020 season.

There has been an endless debate about who will end up as the overall GOAT of men’s tennis as the trio have dominated the sport for the best part of two decades.

However, Kyrgios feels it is now a two-horse race.

“Roger is done for me in the GOAT talks guys, he is done,” the Australian said on the No Boundaries Podcast.

“He’s got a losing record against both of them [Nadal and Djokovic], a really bad record. I don’t even think Roger beats some of the other guys on the grass.”

There is also a good chance that Nadal could increase his Grand Slam tally at this year’s French Open as he is still considered the King of Clay despite losing last year’s semi-final against Djokovic.

Kyrgios added: “If he wins the French he is unquestionably the GOAT.

“If he gets to 22 and the others are on 20 he has the GOAT crown.”
