Season cannot end soon enough for out of sorts Stefanos Tsitsipas
This year, Stefanos Tsitsipas has fallen short of the expectations of both his fans and pundits, failing to produce the kind of performances one would expect from a player of his calibre.
The Greek champion has failed to achieve the level of progress he had thought he would be able to achieve from the start of his career.
Though it’s not enough for a player who hasn’t completely show his skill this term, the 2019 ATP Finals champion earned his third Masters victory in Monte Carlo this spring.
Tsitsipas was extremely poor throughout the US Open season and at the year’s final Grand Slam he fell well short of expectations.
Following a few arguments, Tsitsipas made the controversial decision to sever ties with his father and coach Apostolos in their professional capacity.
The Greek ace is now looks to be extremely far away from earning a Grand Slam championship, and it appears that the emergence of fresh prospects like as Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, and Ben Shelton has slowed him down even further and pushed him away from the prospect of breaking his duck despite being a two-time Slam finalist.
It’s believed that the Athens-based tennis player needs fresh challenges at this stage of his career, maybe including some technical adjustments. Stefanos no longer possesses the same mental toughness as he did in his early career with some suggesting that this is because he suffers from back pain.
Tsitsipas is preparing to take part in the Laver Cup soon and hopes to use this occassion as something to kick start his career again.
“This event brought me closer to my heroes, their personalities and how they feel in real life.
“I was able to admire them in a different way, on a different scale than before. And I got to meet them, talk with them in a way that I don’t usually do when I’m on tour. It brought me so many emotions and wonderful memories.
“Having Borg lead the team has been probably one of the most awesome experiences of my life. He’s literally a living legend. Having him on the bench, providing support and training from time to time was very comforting and refreshing. For that, I am grateful that he has been able to guide us in his way and provide wisdom and knowledge within the sport.”

Tsitsipas has suggested that he has issues focusing on court and he is deeply unhappy with the level of tennis he is producing.
“I can’t concentrate as much as I used to, and I feel like I need to have that hunger for glory that drove me to give my best. I’m trying to regenerate those feelings because I was happy playing tennis when I experienced them. I would say I’ve been in this cycle for one or two years, and I don’t know the reason.
“I find it very difficult to reach that level of consistency that allowed me to win matches consistently in Masters 1000 tournaments. I am far from that level right now. I need to find a way to accumulate some victories, gain confidence, and approach my best version.”
