Serena Williams turns heads with dazzling pregnancy announcement at Met Gala – ‘I can stop hiding’

Serena Williams is known for making an entrance and turning heads and she certainly did that at the Met Gala 2023 and on Instagram on Monday.
The tennis great and her husband Alexis Ohanian are expecting a second child with the pair confirming the pregnancy at the world’s most prestigious and glamorous fashion event and social gathering in New York.
The trio – Williams, Ohanian and the baby bump – hit the red carpet on Monday with the family expanding to four.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner gave birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. in September 2017, but made a return to tennis in May the following year.
She played four more years before announcing in August last year that she would be “evolving away” from the sport, but during her farewell she revealed that she “loved every second” of her first pregnancy and is keen to expand her family.
She added: “In the last year, Alexis and I have been trying to have another child. And we recently got some information from my doctor that put my mind at ease and made me feel that whenever we’re ready, we can add to our family. I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again as an athlete. I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out.”
There were initially rumours that Williams could return to tennis in the near future as she dropped hints that she would “unretire”, but it is clear that she was just teasing as 10 months later the American and Ohanian are pregnant with their second child as they made the announcement at the Met Gala.
In an Instagram post, the tennis great is seen cradling a baby bump and she wrote the caption: “[I] was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala.”
Williams added on the red carpet during an interview with LaLa Anthony for Vogue: “Our new addition, there’s three of us here. I’m good, I’m feeling good now, I can breathe. I’m not hiding!”
The couple are yet to confirm the confirm the due date for their second child, but Williams only announced she was pregnant with Olympia when she was already two months as she waited until after winning the 2017 Australian Open that she was expecting her first child.
