The tennis season has begun, and British fans will be looking forward to one of the most famous tennis tournaments in the sporting calendar, Wimbledon 2023, set to open its doors on Monday 3 July.

Over the years, we’ve witnessed many tennis stars play on the famous grass court, while the champions have gone on to win huge amounts of prize money. But many tennis players enjoy a quieter lifestyle off the court and have put their prize fund towards property portfolios, cars, and even luxury yachts.

If you work hard enough on the court, it certainly pays off, and below we look at some of the most famous tennis stars and their luxury mansions, to find out how our favourite stars like to spend their time away from the public gaze.

Roger Federer’s Mansion Circa £6.5M

Roger Federer remains one of the greatest tennis players of all time, claiming 20 Grand Slam singles titles and playing in more than 1500 matches over his 24-year career. Originally from Basel in Switzerland, the tennis star owns several homes in the country as well as property in Dubai.

One of Federer’s most famous homes is in Wollerau in Schwyz canton. Built from scratch on a 1.5-acre plot of land, the stunning glass house boasts incredible views over Lake Zurich and costs within the region of £ 6.5 million.

The luxurious house contains a swimming pool, spa, gym, and an underground car park for Federer’s well-publicised Mercedes-Benz collection. It has floor-to-ceiling windows and is decked with several generous balconies overlooking the lake.

The three-storey mansion also contains a separate apartment for Federer’s parents who reportedly live with him, his wife, Mirka and their 4 children. Famous neighbours include F1 drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa.

Serena Williams’ Mansion Circa £5.3M

Serena Williams owns a portfolio of properties and since her retirement from the game it is reported she is spending most of her time in her Miami mansion located in Florida where she lives with her husband Alexis, and their three-year-old daughter, Olympia.

The amazing mansion boasts its own pool and some incredible interior rooms, but you won’t find a tennis court there as Serena was very specific about keeping her work and home life separate when she designed the property.

Highlights of the luxury home include a hidden karaoke room (located behind a bookcase), a trophy room, an infinity pool and a wine cellar once described as “the size of a small NYC apartment”. One of the former living rooms has also been transformed into an art gallery.

The tennis player is currently enjoying her retirement from tennis after an epic career which saw her win no less than 23 Grand Slam titles, 4 Olympic gold medals and 14 Grand Slam doubles titles.
