Stefanos Tsitsipas opens up about ‘soulmate’ Paula Badosa – ‘We have good vibes’
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa are “on the same wavelength” and they have a “spiritual connection” with the Greek confirming he is in a relationship with fellow tennis player Badosa.
Rumours of a new tennis super couple started to swirl at the French Open a fortnight ago when Badosa attended Tsitsipas’ fourth-round match with the Spaniard trying to keep a low-key profile during the match by wearing a cap and sunglasses.
However, things escalated after the match as internet sleuths went on the hunt for more evidence of a relationship and they found that the duo recently updated their Spotify profile pictures with joint selfies while they also had a playlist called “mood”.
Not long after the relationship was all but confirmed as an Instagram page called tsitsidosa appeared and it featured several photos and videos of the two.
Despite the light-hearted nature of the tsitsidosa page, neither made any public announcements until this week’s Stuttgart Open when Tsitsipas was asked about the relationship.
In an interview with Germany’s Bild he said: “Yes, we are a couple. But not only (that). We are soulmates. That’s how it should be defined. It is very rare that you find your soulmate. If you ask Paula, she’ll tell you exactly the same thing.”
The world No 5 added: “I’ll tell you this: I’ve met many women in my life – and I can say that very confidently – I have never felt so attracted and found so much beauty and interest in a woman.
“I told Paula that and she said the same thing and I was happy to hear that from her. Our minds are on the same wavelength, it’s such a spiritual connection. We have good vibes together. This is such a beautiful experience.
“I don’t think many people experience that kind of spiritual and soulmate connection with someone. If you travel around the world a lot, this is what you’re looking for. You think you’ll find it somewhere in the world, but sometimes it is right in front of you.”
Tsitsipas, who lost in the second round of the Stuttgart Open last week, will return to action at the Halle Open this week while Badosa is still recovering from a spine stress fracture that kept her out of the French Open. However, the Spaniard is hopeful of returning to action at Wimbledon in a fortnight.
