Tennis influencer Rachel Stuhlmann gave Novak Djokovic and the PTPA accolades for their work in pushing for the ATP’s Baseline initiative for players’ financial security announced on Tuesday.

The scheme is the first of its sort in ATP history, and guaranteed base earnings, which ensures the top 250 singles players of a minimum revenue level each season, is one of its core components.

In answer to the ATP’s post announcing the project, Rachel Stuhlmann aired her own views on minimum wage discussions around tennis and the role of Novak Djokoivc and the PTPA.

She made a point of comparing the programme to the one the PGA Tour in golf launched last year in terms of paying lower-ranked players a secure minimum wage.

While Stuhlmann said she thought tennis’ $300,000 basic payment cap should have matched golf’s $500,000 cap, she emphasised that it was still a positive step.

“Professional golf has forced professional tennis to consider and make some serious and impactful changes,” Stuhlmann wrote.

“It’s going to be an interesting few years coming up in pro tennis. Really happy to see this. Just wish it was $500K tour minimum but this is a start,” she added.

On Instagram, Rachel Stuhlmann also announced the information. In support of the PTPA, which was formed by Novak Djokovic and lobbied for the initiative with the ATP, the influences shared a screenshot of her Twitter message along with a photo of a shirt.

She has expressed her support for the PTPA as advocates for player’s rights and interests on both the ATP and WTA Tours.

The PTPA emblem was on the jersey’s sleeve, while the word “players” was embroidered on the front.

“It’s about time professional tennis players have a voice. And clarity/ transparency on important things. For the players, by the players @ptpa players,” Stuhlmann wrote.

The initiative has been widely hailed as a step in the right direction by the ATP Tour.

“We’re beyond excited to introduce Baseline,” said Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP Chairman.

“This initiative is a complete shift in the way tennis approaches player finances. It represents our commitment to the players and their careers – fostering an environment where they can thrive and elevate the sport. It is also just the start of what we hope to achieve. Our ambition is to expand this game-changing initiative in the years to come.”

“Being a professional tennis player comes with incredible rewards, but it’s also a challenging journey, especially for those starting their careers,” added Grigor Dimitrov an ATP Player Advisory Council Member and current player.

“Baseline is a game-changer. Knowing that we have a safety net through the minimum guarantee and injury protection pillars gives us peace of mind, allowing us to focus on our game and strive for success. This truly shows the ATP’s commitment to the players and the future of our sport.”
