If you are worried that the 2020 Australian Open “is not happening or starting later” then there is some good news for you from tournament director Craig Tiley.

Now for the draw for this year’s tournament and Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer find themselves in the same half while on the women’s side Coco Gauff and Venus Williams will meet in round one.

Michael Graham picks out five stories and sub-plots to keep your eye on as the 202 Australian Open develops, including the biggest problem facing Rafael Nadal.

Roger Federer to win Grand Slam title No 21 in Melbourne?

A former major winner sees no reason why the 38-year-old can’t add another title to his collection.

Alexander Zverev started the 2019 season as one of the favourites to make the Grand Slam breakthrough, but he fell off a cliff last year.

So what are his chances at the 2020 Australian Open? Well, read what Mats Wilander had to say.

What’s in the news
Rich man who owns big house and has a fancy car decides to build a triple garage!

Yes, the Daily Mail is at the forefront of the important news as they go with the headline “Sir Andy Murray builds triple garage at his new £3million five-bedroom Surrey mansion to go with the swimming pool, massage room and gym (plus a tennis court)”.

“It will house £75,000 Jaguar I-Pace,” says one of the sub-headlines while he also owns a VW and, we assume, one or two other cars, but the paragraph below (if they haven’t amended it) is a thing of beauty.

“The garage will be built at his new home, which is still under construction, which is a few miles from Murray’s other £5million property in Oxshott, which he shares with his wife, their two daughters Sophia and Edie and baby son Teddy.”

We don’t think they have used the word which enough.

Mats Wilander has written off Alexander Zverev’s chances of winning the Australian Open and Zverev in turn has written off Nick Kyrgios’ chances.

“There’s a lot of young guys that are right now, no offence, just better than him,” Zverev is quoted as saying by AAP, via The West Australian.

Staying with Kyrgios, Simon Briggs in The Telegraph has a great piece on the 24-year-old as he “is reforming his battered image with Australian bushfires crusade”.
