In Tennis Today, Andy Murray gets the cold shoulder from his daughter over FaceTime, Roger Federer shows off the best of Swiss nature and Juan Martin del Potro is allowed to go for a walk.

What’s on the site

There is quite a bit of twitchiness on the ATP Tour at the moment and, although it has not quite boiled over, but it is definitely simmering. Things started to get heated when Vasek Pospisil launched a foul-mouthed tirade against ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi during his defeat at the Miami Open.

World No 1 Novak Djokovic then jumped to the defence of his “good friend” adding that “I empathize with him wholeheartedly”.

And now Denis Shapovalov has admitted that players are not happy with the ATP bosses for telling them to “go and play tennis”.

We suspect this is not the last we have heard of it.

Away from politics and top seed Daniil Medvedev had to battle the cramp, the elements and Alexei Popyrin to reach the fourth round of the Miami Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas believes tennis is getting a taste of life without the Big Three at this year’s Miami Open.

Staying with the Big Three and Andre Agassi has delivered his latest verdict on the GOAT debate and, unsurprisingly, he believes there are only three players in the race.

Meanwhile, Ashleigh Barty is unlikely to return to Australia before the end of the 2021 tennis season.

In case you missed this, here is Oli Jefford on late bloomer Aslan Karatsev as he discusses the red-hot Russian’s surge up the ATP Rankings.

What’s in the news

Andy Murray’s daughter Edie apparently doesn’t like it when he leaves home to go and play tennis with the Daily Record quoting him as saying: “When I tell her I’m going away she gets upset and doesn’t like that I’m going away. She ignores me on FaceTime and stuff when I’m away which is sad.”

Naomi Osaka continues to be a leader on and off the court as the four-time Grand Slam winner has hit out against the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes in the United States. Japan Today has the story.

And in the usual Daily Mail going for the longest headline in the world, Mike Dickson has a nice piece titled “Bjorn again: Leo Borg is ready to make a name for himself in the tennis world while his icon dad tags along – with the 11-time Grand Slam champion admitting comparisons between the two is ‘a burden’ for his son”.

Roger Federer has turned into a Swiss nature guide as he has teamed up with Switzerland to “show everyone how I get energized by Swiss nature”.

If this doesn’t bring a smile to your face, nothing will. Juan Martin del Potro was allowed to go out for a walk in Chicago following his knee surgery.

Stan Wawrinka celebrated his birthday on Sunday and it was “different”.

Elina Svitolina is bad, really, really bad.

Meanwhile, in Maria Sharapova land…
