Tennis Today: Ski slope named after Novak Djokovic, as Garbine Muguruza and Stan Wawrinka leave us hanging

Novak Djokovic celebrating

In Tennis Today, there is plenty of good news for Novak Djokovic and Goran Ivanisevic after their recent setbacks while ‘couple’ Garbine Muguruza and Stan Wawrinka leave us hanging.

What’s on the site

We have another exclusive with Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou and the Frenchman admits the world’s top tennis players will need to pick between the US Open and French Open this year.

Gilles Simon, meanwhile, has thrown his support behind Novak Djokovic following the Adria Tour fallout while he also took a swipe at Roger Federer for not using his voice to represent players.

How about another little swipe from Dominic Thiem at Nick Kyrgios following the Australian’s criticism of the Adria Tour?

Now for some actual tennis news and Washington Open organisers have released their preliminary entry list and there is no Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

What’s in the news

After a tough few weeks for Novak Djokovic, the Serb finally has some good news flowing his way as a ski slope in Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been named after him.

The world No 1 attended the inauguration, reports Mondo.rs.

Staying Djokovic and the Jahorina mountains, and the Serb has also been gifted around 400 square metres of land by Pale Mayor Bosko Jugovic, according to direkt-portal.com.

GQ has a nice interview with former British No 1 Greg Rusedski about his lockdown experience as he shares his exercise, diet, mental health routines and more.

What’s on social media

Caroline Wozniacki has retired, but that doesn’t mean she has stopped playing tennis.

More images of Djokovic at the skip slopes at Jahorina.

Garbine Muguruza is still in Geneva, but no sign of Stan Wawrinka and no confirmation if Twitter spies were right about their relationship.

FREE AT LAST After two negative and two positive tests, I’ve finally tested negative again and am free to leave Zadar after one month. Feels like I won it in five… Huge thanks to all the doctors and everyone who made my quarantine in Zadar nice and pleasant. Wish everyone who tested positive a speedy recovery! 🙏🏻
