In Tennis Today, Roger Federer has revealed some especially surprising retirement plans… working for Rafael Nadal!

What’s on the site
The Paris Masters is about to start proper with the top seeds beginning their campaigns, but we sadly have to forget that teasing draw that set-up a potential Rafael Nadal v Roger Federer semi-final.

It’s definitely not happening now, as an ‘extremely disappointed’ Federer has opted to skip the tournament.

Nadal has never actually won the Paris Masters, despite dominating just up the road at Rolland Garros.

Is that just a case of bad luck, though? Well, no, he’s not having that at all. He does, however, seem very up for winning it.

And if he does, of course, he is all but guaranteed the year-end world number one spot – something that he admits would be ‘special’ to him.

What’s in the news
Roger Federer is always in the press in one way or another, especially in Switzerland.

Schweizer Illustrierte is running a story claiming that Federer has set out his post retirement plans – and they involve a team-up with iconic rival Rafael Nadal.

“I have been asked this question for quite some time, but I’m sorry, I have to disappoint journalists again and again,” he is quoted as saying. “I have not decided yet when to stop [playing].

“[When I do, though] I would like to teach tennis to young players, and I would like to do this in Rafael Nadal’s Academy.

“If my kids want to play tennis someday, I’m sure I’ll send them there.”

One man in desperate need of a new coach is Kyle Edmund, and he is lining up a very good one.

The Daily Mail report the former British number one is on the verge of teaming up with Franco Davin, who helped guide Juan Martin del Potro to the US Open title in 2009.

With Fabio Fognini and Grigor Dimitrov also on his CV, Davin will be confident of reigniting Edmund’s game.

The Daily Mail also has some honeymoon snaps from Caroline Wozniacki. You know, if you’re into that kind of thing.
