Defending champion Rafael Nadal is through after a rain delay, but he’s not happy. In fact he’s a bit furious about the ‘slippery’ surface, claiming it’s much poorer quality than it has been in recent years.
Whether that ‘poor surface’ means we can expect a shock result involving the Spaniard remains to be seen, but just in case we’ve recalled his Roland Garros defeat to Robin Soderling in detail just so you know what it looks like.

Serena Williams’ catsuit has certainly got people talking, and Sporting News have compiled a collection of all the best twitter reactions it that is well worth a scroll through.
French Open absentee Roger Federer, meanwhile, has responded to how awesome Roland Garros is without him by talking about how much more awesome Wimbledon is to anything else.
“Wimbledon has been my favourite tournament, as my heroes played and won there.
“Pete Sampras won Wimbledon seven times, Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker three times each.
“Playing on grass is also a unique and incredibly exciting experience.
“When I won there for the first time as a junior in 1998, I fell in love with the history of the place, the fans, the green and purple colours of the club.
“There is so much class at Wimbledon, so much charm and history. It really struck a chord in me.
“I don’t play for the records as much as I play because I love stepping foot on the famed Centre Court and challenging myself to try to get better.”
He’s also kept himself busy by releasing a special Roger Federer edition of Moet champagne, which must be very nice work if you can get it.
In sadder news, there are reports that Boris Becker has split from his wife.

Kristyna Pliskova, who Williams beat, was in less of a happy mood.
Belinda Bencic meanwhile, demonstrated the dirtier side of playing at Roland Garros.
While David Goffin showed off the commercial side of tennis by showing off his new watch – complete with a wholly out-of-character and a little bit awkward smoulder.
Finally, Garbine Muguruza celebrated the way everything should be celebrated – with ice cream.
