Tennis Today: Roger Federer ‘shock’ sighting and Karen Khachanov is bested by a squirrel

In Tennis Today, one newspaper really scrapes the barrel to deliver some Roger Federer ‘news’, while Karen Khachanov has a bad day in Washington.

What’s on the site
Another day, another Andy Murray fitness update. This one, though, is a far cry from the often vague non-committal hints about his plans.

This one has an actual stated date for a planned return to singles action, and it’s a lot closer than has previously been suggested,

Currently, Murray is teaming with his brother Jamie out in Washington, but just where do the Murrays feature in our top ten siblings doubles partnerships? Find out right here.

And what would any day be like without a Nick Kyrgios video to enjoy? Luckily, we don’t don’t have to find out today, because here is one of him playing doubles with equally brilliant Stefanos Tsitsipas.

What’s in the news
In what the Express presumably believes is a shocking turn of events, well-known tennis player Roger Federer has been ‘spotted’ playing tennis.

I realise that will be tough to fathom at first, but if you try to just suspend your perfectly understandable disbelief for a moment, we’ll do our bets to elaborate.

“ROGER FEDERER has been spotted back on a tennis court again following his defeat in the Wimbledon final to Novak Djokovic,” the Express begins…

Actually, no, our mistake. It turns out that is the entire article, once you subtract a few very old quotes, anyway.

There are pictures too. You know, just in case you happened to miss Roger Federer playing tennis for the last 15+ years of immensely high-profile brilliance.

In other news, if you’d like to see a squirrel spooking Karen Khachanov, and we cannot possibly imagine who wouldn’t, then the ATP have you covered.

What’s on social media
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga looked like he really enjoyed his win this week…

While compatriot Benoit Paire seems to be really enjoying his beard these days…
