So, what’s the latest on Roger Federer’s retirement plans? It’s only discussed several dozen times a week so it can be tough to keep up.

The latest to have his say, though, possibly has more credibility than most, since its his actual coach. it is, however, good news for Fed-fans.

That may not be all that great news for the younger generation on the ATP Tour eyeing up Federer’s spot at the top, though, as Lujbicic also says he can’t see anyone breaking the Big Three’s hold in 2020.

The WTA is not dominated by anyone, of course, and Johanna Konta has declared herself ready to claim a piece of the Grand Slam winning party.

And have you ever wondered what goes in to making a great tennis shoe? Well wonder no more…

What’s in the news
Kyle Edmund has a new coach for 2020, and not a day too soon given his alarming slide down the rankings this year.

Edmund started the season inside the top 20 and considered a strong contender to go deep in tournaments, but he failed to justify that confidence and finished the year as British number three at 69.

He is already planning for a bounce-back year, though, and has called upon Franco Davin to deliver it.

Elsewhere, the French Open have released a video of the new roof on Philippe Chatrier court in action.

The French Open is the last Grand Slam to install a retractable roof, but it’s looking in good shape for 2020.

And Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev have replaced injured duo Daniil Medvedev and Gael Monfils at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships, which starts on Thursday.
