Venus and Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova star at Met Gala

Three tennis greats demonstrated their fashion prowess as Venus Williams, Serena Williams, and Maria Sharapova took to the green carpet at this year’s Met Gala.
One of the biggest and most talked about fashion events on the calendar, the event in New York attracts huge attention across social media and has the biggest names from all walks of life in attendance.
This year’s gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, had the theme ‘Garden in Time,’ based on a 1962 short story by J G Ballard.
And the Williamses and Sharapova all wowed when walking on the green – fittingly because of the theme – carpet on Monday night.
Five-time major champion Sharapova, who retired in 2020, wowed in a daffodil yellow dress designed by Prabal Gurung, accompanying her outfit with a floral headpiece.

Seven-time Slam winner Venus wore a spectacular mirrored dress designed by Marc Jacobs and revealed on the green carpet that she had broken the dress in rehearsal.
“It’s based off the theme of today, we’re showing all these dresses that are too fragile to wear,” she said on Live with E!
“So he [Jacobs] wanted to bring in the fragility of mirrors—I only broke one.”
Meanwhile, 23-time major champion Serena – who revealed her second pregnancy on the red carpet 12 months ago – starred in a metallic gold dress from Balenciaga.
At the 2021 Met Gala, Sharapova shared a famous image of all three of them together, and they also found time to catch up at the showcase this year.
The 37-year-old first shared a video on her Instagram Story with Venus – with the two joking that they were searching for Serena – before sharing a similar video with Serena later in the evening.

The Williamses and Sharapova were not the only tennis-related stars on the green carpet, with the cast of Challengers also attending.
Zendaya, who plays Tashi Duncan in the film, first starred in a peacock-themed gown Maison Margiela by John Galliano, before returning in a new Galliano outfit a few hours later.
While Josh O’Connor – who plays Patrick Zweig – wore floral shoes to accompany his outfit.
Other notable names to attend the Met Gala this year included Lana Del Rey, Chris Hemsworth, and Kim Kardashian.
