Delight for Emma Raducanu as she wins US Open

Emma Raducanu has once again delighted her fans across the world after she gave the world another glimpse of her multilingualism by giving a brief interview in Romanian.

US Open champion Raducanu, whose father is Romanian while her mother hails from China, will play in Romania for the first time later in October after confirming she will compete in the Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca.

And ahead of the tournament, which runs from October 25 to 31 at the BT Arena, the 18-year-old gave a shout out to fans in Romanian.

The 18-year-old revealed earlier this year that she often visits Romania.

“My grandma, Mamiya, still lives in central Bucharest. I go back a couple of times a year, stay with her, see her,” she said.

“It’s really nice. I love the food, to be honest. I mean, the food is unbelievable. And my grandma’s cooking is also something special. I do have ties to Bucharest.”

The world No 22, who will be in action at the BNP Paribas Open this week, also gave a fluent interview in Mandarin shortly after her US Open success in September.
