WATCH: Emma Raducanu stars in new British Airways safety video alongside Little Simz, Robert Peston
Emma Raducanu is one of a host of famous British personalities who feature in the latest British Airways safety video for passengers.
Shortly after winning the 2021 US Open in stunning fashion, Raducanu became a brand ambassador for the British carrier as she netted sponsorship deals left, right and centre.
And her association with the flag carrier airline has seen her join the likes of rapper Little Simz, designer Ozwald Boateng and TV presenter Robert Peston in a video that “inject some wit and showcases Britishness”.
“As a British Airways Brand Ambassador, it was a privilege to be a part of the new safety video and film alongside so many British Airways colleagues and household names from across the country,” Raducanu, who demonstrates how to stow luggage in an overhead locker during her cameo, said.
“It’s fresh, engaging and I know customers will be in for a treat when the video is rolled out for the first time onboard.”
Other famous people who appear in the video include Barbie the movie star Ncuti Gatwa, Skins actress Kaya Scodelario, entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den investor Steven Bartlett and chef Tom Kerridge.
But it is not just famous people who make up the cast of the five-minute video as British Airways cabin crew and ground engineers also feature.
Calum Laming, BA’s chief customer officer, said: “We have all sat through safety demonstrations before, so we knew we needed to create something different that would capture attention. We wanted this to be a real celebration of originality and for us, it is our people who – together with where we’re from – make us unique.
“That’s why it was important for us to hero so many of our amazing colleagues doing what they do each and every day for our customers and for each other.
“We also wanted to inject some wit and showcase Britishness, and all the quirks that put us on the map by shining a light on real-life people – from fishermen and chip shop workers to friends hanging out, as well as some well-known faces who help put Britain on a stage. So, seats in the take-off position and we hope you really enjoy our new safety video.”
The video will air on British Airways’ long-haul flights from May 1 and forms part of the British Original brand advertising campaign featuring scenes from UK cities and the seaside.
A second video will be released later this year and it will feature the new British Airways uniforms that were designed by Mr Boateng.
