There are 11 women who have won 20 or more WTA hard-court titles, with Serena Williams leading the way ahead of fellow tennis greats Steffi Graf and Chris Evert.

All 11 of the players have won multiple Grand Slam titles, while 10 have collected majors on hard courts.

Here, we look at the 11 women who have won the most hard-court singles titles in the Open Era.

=9. Petra Kvitova – 20

Petra Kvitova has won 20 of her 31 career singles titles so far at hard-court tournaments, including her first at the 2009 Hobart International, while her most recent hard-court win was at the 2023 Miami Open.

The Czech’s hard-court titles include the 2011 WTA Finals and six Tier I / WTA 1000 tournaments.

Victoria Azarenka has claimed 20 of her 21 titles WTA titles to date on hard courts, including her first at the 2009 Brisbane International and her most recent at the 2020 Cincinnati Open.

The Belarusian’s hard-court trophy haul features both her majors at the Australian Open and all 10 of her Tier I / WTA 1000 titles.

Maria Sharapova won 20 of her 36 singles titles on hard courts, including her maiden title at the 2003 Japan Open and her last-ever tournament win at the 2017 Tianjin Open.

The Russian’s hard-court titles include two of her five Grand Slams (one US Open and one Australian Open), one WTA Finals crown and nine Tier I events.

Monica Seles secured 28 of her 53 WTA titles at hard-court tournaments, with the 1990 Miami Open her first and the 2002 Qatar Open her last.

Among the Yugoslav-American’s hard-court titles are six of her nine majors (four Australian Opens and two US Opens) and six Tier I tournaments.

=7. Martina Navratilova – 29

Martina Navratilova won 29 of her record 167 WTA singles titles on hard courts, with her first coming in Colorado in 1975, while her final title was on hard courts at the 1994 Open Gaz de France in Paris.

The Czech-American’s hard-court title collection includes four of her 18 Grand Slams, all of which were at the US Open (1983, 1984, 1986, 1987).

Kim Clijsters claimed 31 of her 41 career titles on hard courts, with her first tournament win on the surface coming in Hobart in 2000, while her last-ever title was the 2011 Australian Open.

4. Lindsay Davenport – 33

Lindsay Davenport collected 33 of her 55 WTA titles on hard courts, with her first coming in Danone in 1994, while her last-ever title was on hard courts in Memphis in 2008.

The American’s hard-court titles include two of her three majors (one US Open and one Australian Open), her 1996 Olympic triumph, and five Tier I titles.

3. Chris Evert – 35

Chris Evert won 35 of her 157 WTA singles titles at hard-court events, with her first and last victories on the surface coming at the 1973 Lady Gotham Open and in Los Angeles in 1988 respectively.

The American claimed three of her 18 Grand Slam titles on hard courts at the US Open in 1978, 1980 and 1982.

2. Steffi Graf – 37

Steffi Graf secured 37 of her 107 WTA titles on hard courts, with her first tournament win on the surface coming in Mahwah in 1986, while her last was in New Haven in 1998.

Among the German’s hard-court titles are nine of her 22 Grand Slam titles (five US Opens and four Australian Opens), her 1988 Olympic gold victory and 10 tournaments at Category 5 / Tier I level.

Serena Williams has won more hard-court titles than any other woman, with 48 of her 73 career singles titles coming on the surface. Her first hard-court title was the 1999 Indian Wells Open, while her last was the 2020 Auckland Open — her final WTA title.

The American’s hard-court titles include 13 of her 23 Grand Slams (seven Australian Opens and six US Opens), four of her five WTA Finals titles and 16 WTA 1000 events.
