World No 1 Ashleigh Barty announces her engagement after title winning season

Ashleigh Barty, the world No 1 for the third year running, has announced her engagement to her long-term boyfriend Garry Kissick.
The newly engaged couple shared the news on an Instagram post captioned: “Future husband.”
This tops off an award winning season for Barty, not only did she manage to maintain first place in the women’s singles rankings despite crashing out in the third round of the US Open, she won five titles including Wimbledon and she also bagged bronze in the mixed doubles at the Tokyo Olympics.
The Australian’s fiancée, Kissick, is a former golf pro who currently works as the irrigation technician for the greens at Brookwater Golf and Country Club in Brisbane.
They met five years ago on a course in Barty’s home state of Queensland and her 29-year-old partner has been supportive of her ever since, often posting encouraging messages on social media and accompanying her at tournaments.
Barty has been in Australia ever since her defeat at the US Open, opting to end her season early and as a result missed out on the WTA Finals.
However, she still joined the likes of Serena Williams, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert as the only women to finish three consecutive seasons top of the rankings.
