Aryna Sabalenka’s lead over Iga Swiatek at the top of the WTA Rankings has grown, while Jasmine Paolini has reached a new milestone.

The points from the 2023 WTA Finals have dropped off the rankings this week as last year’s event in Cancun was held earlier in the calendar than this year’s edition, which will be staged in Riyadh next month.

Swiatek, who is the defending WTA Finals champion, has dropped from 9,665 points to 7,970, while Sabalenka‘s total has fallen from 9,706 to 9,016. Sabalenka claimed the world No 1 spot from Swiatek last week.

Jessica Pegula, who was a runner-up at the 2023 year-end championships, has slipped from fourth to sixth in the rankings as she has lost 1,080 points.

Jasmine Paolini, who did not feature at last year’s WTA Finals, has climbed above Pegula and Elena Rybakina to a new career-high ranking of world No 4.

Maria Sakkari, Marketa Vondrousova and Ons Jabeur are all sidelined through injury, and the trio have slid to 31st, 38th and 41st respectively.

Former world No 4 and Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin has soared 67 places to No 88 after she was a runner-up to Zheng Qinwen at last week’s Pan Pacific Open.

Olga Danilovic has jumped 34 places to a new career-high ranking of 52 after winning her second WTA title at the Guangzhou Open last week. Caroline Dolehide, who lost to Danilovic in the final, is up 23 spots to 78th.
