Roger Federer played 31 Grand Slam finals against 13 different opponents.

Roger Federer’s career was more than extraordinary, with the Swiss star proving to be one of the most dominant and successful players in tennis history.

Federer has been away from the professional circuit for some time now, retiring aged 41 in September 2022, but his legacy still looms large over the sport – and he remains a hugely popular figure.

Across his career, the 43-year-old spent 310 weeks as the world No 1, including a record 237 consecutive weeks from February 2004 to August 2008, and is the second-oldest No 1 in ATP history.

He amassed a hugely impressive haul of 103 ATP Tour titles and dominated some tournaments for a number of years

The most successful tournaments of his career were the Halle Open and his home tournament, the Basel Open, which he won 10 times each.

However, he also had huge success at Masters 1000 level, winning seven Cincinnati Open titles and five Indian Wells titles – and 28 Masters events overall, the third most of any man since 1990.

But there is no denying that he is best remembered for his success at Grand Slam level, with his 20 major victories the third most of any male tennis player in history.

He was also a six-time Australian Open champion, with victories spanning from 2004 to 2018, while he won five straight US Open titles in New York from 2004 to 2008.
