Tennis Today: A-list movie star honours tennis legend, and Roger Federer shockingly does his job

In Tennis Today, Roger Federer is ‘captured’ playing tennis, while an A-list movie star pauses show to pay homage to a tennis legend at an iconic venue.
What’s on the site
Daniil Medvedev is a Masters champion, as well as a top five player, after he won the Cincinnati Open – and he has been declared ‘ready for New York’ by the man he beat in the final.
Another man he beat, Novak Djokovic, also heaped the praise on the Russian, as well he might after losing his last two matches against him.
The winner of the women’s singles in Cincinnati, meanwhile, is Madison Keys, and you can see a quite remarkable must-see shot that she pulled off that got her to the final.
And if you’re in the mood for a video, then Nick Kyrgios has posted one just to try and prove that umpires allow Rafael Nadal to get away with a lot more than they do him – or probably anyone else.
What’s in the news
It may be a Monday kind of a thing, but the newspaper that specialises in not actually bringing you any news at all – the Daily Express – has a couple of crackers for you today.
The first one is that Roger Federer – you know, that world renowned professional tennis player who has been around and at the top of the sport for pretty much two decades – has been practicing playing tennis before one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the world.
That’s right, if, for whatever reason, you thought that Federer might have just thought to himself: ‘nah, you’re alright… reckon I’ll just wing it at the US Open’, then prepare to have your mind BLOWN, because the Express can inform you that he’s actually been training and stuff instead.
Sticking with the Express, they have decided the time is right to do an entire feature on who Madison Keys’ boyfriend is.
If you’d like a little more intellectual reading though, the New York Times has a great in-depth interview with Keys’ coach, Juan Todero, about the challenges of unlocking the American’s real potential.
