Tennis Today: Andy Murray caught amid Nick Kyrgios-style ‘x-rated rant’, Spaniard dismisses retirement talk

In Tennis Today, Andy Murray has apparently been channeling his inner Nick Kyrgios, news of how Granny Murray will react, and a Spanish ATP star has been addressing retirement rumours.
What’s on the site
Yesterday was a significant anniversary for Monica Seles, prompting us to recall one of the very darkest day in the history of tennis, and indeed sport in general.
From one legendary WTA player to maybe THE legendary WTA player: Serena Williams appears to have quashed suggestions that this season may be her last. She has started to announce her plans for 2020, so looks like we’ll have the pleasure of watching her for another year at least.
Andy Murray’s plans are always big news too, but he made the correct decision to resist the temptation to play singles at the US Open, says one of his former coaches.
Murray’s bottom is very much big news, though… in case you missed it…
What’s in the news
According to The Sun newspaper, Andy Murray produced a Nick Kyrgios-style “x-rated rant” at the Cincinnati Masters this week.
The paper has also added extra spice to the story in a very creative way – by adding that he Gran wouldn’t approve. Seriously.
The former world number one lost to Tenny Sandgren in the first round, but had a set point in the first-set tiebreak.
He failed to take it, and that prompted him to direct some criticism to his team in the stands, claim the report.
“F***ing no one in this team ever wants to say anything when there’s something wrong, never,” Murray is reported to have said.
“Everything is perfect all the f***ing time. Kills me. F***ing joke.”
We’ll let you discover the ‘Gran’ angle for yourself.
In other news, Murray’s favourite doubles partner, Feliciano Lopez, has dismissed the suggestion that he may be on looking at retirement.
Speaking to the ATP, the 37-year-old said: “I never expected to be playing this long,” he admitted. “I know that it’s not normal. I’m very happy to keep going, play another US Open and add some more Grand Slams to my record.”
