Tennis Today: Nick Kyrgios under fire Down Under after ‘jerkish’ behaviour and ‘most vile outburst yet’

Unsurprisingly, this Friday edition of Tennis Today is mostly about Nick Kyrgios.
What’s on the site
It’s time for another round of Nick Kyrgios news, reviews and opinions. In case you have been living under a rock, the Australian had another outburst during which he called the chair umpire a “f***ing tool”.
Naturally the ATP has come down hard on him as he has been fined.
However, top TV analyst Mark Petchey has told Tennis365 that Kyrgios is good for the game, saying “you just have to enjoy Nick and everything he brings to the game and I think he is awesome for tennis”.
How about some uplifting news? Andy Murray will be back in singles action next week.
Back to Cincinnati and Roger Federer was stunned by Andrey Rublev while Novak Djokovic eased into the quarters.
What’s in the news
US Open organisers have come in for stick after their competition gaffe and The Telegraph says it “should prompt tennis to challenge age-old institutions in quest for equality”.
The “clanger serves to remind us that even a sport as supposedly progressive – certainly relative to other sports – as tennis still has a long way to go to reach true equality” writes Charlie Eccleshare.
Back to Nick Kyrgios we go and the Australian media says he has hit a new low, with AFP doing the leg work for the story.
Here are some of the snippets:
“An embarrassment to Australian sport. Quite possibly world sport.”
“Nick Kyrgios’s behaviour in this match was, yet again, that of a jerk.”
“The Nick Kyrgios show has sunk to a new low.”
What’s on social media
So, what’s Nick Kyrgios up to after his fine?
If you thought a US$113,000 fine was enough to send Nick Kyrgios packing after his controversial loss yesterday, you would be incorrect.
He was on Court 12 today, but I honestly don’t know how much time he actually spent practicing…#CincyTennis pic.twitter.com/3Ae7yPBvbN
