This USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center surface will undergo an upgrade ahead of this year’s US Open with organisers confirming they will use the new Laykold courts made by Advanced Polymer Technology.
“Laykold courts are the only courts with vapor barrier designed specifically for the court system, which also greatly increases consistency in both court performance and court speed,” a statement on usopen.org read.
Aidan McHugh has spoken about the physical and mental effects that the lockdown due the coronavirus will have on him (and basically most tennis players).
“Mentally it is a weird one because normally we can see what we’re playing next. Even in pre-season, that’s the longest time where you get five weeks of good, hard training, but then you know what week you’re starting, whether this is unknown because things are changing every day,” he told PA Sport (via Daily Mail).
“I think you’ve just got to look at it to try and improve yourself physically and work on your game where you can.”
