Tennis Today: Donald Trump invite for Rafa Nadal; penguin named after Andy Murray shows off chick

In Tennis Today, Rafael Nadal is set to get an invitation from US President Donald Trump to attend a White House dinner while a penguin named after Andy Murray has introduced her chick to the world.

When will we see Andy Murray back on a tennis court? Unfortunately it’s a question that remains unanswered as the three-time Grand Slam winner’s return date remains unclear after he was all but ruled out of the Miami Open.
Scroll further down for the penguin story.
Murray will be hoping he will hit his stride once he does return, but he is not the only player who needs a bounce-back year. Michael Graham picks out seven players, including Kei Nishikori and Maria Sharapova, who need to fire in 2020.
Fabio Fognini says that Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are practically unplayable, but Rafael Nadal is more vulnerable.
Do you agree or disagree with Fabio?
There have been a couple of upsets on the ATP Tour events overnight with Vasek Pospisil gunning down top seed and world No 5 Daniil Medvedev in Rotterdam.
Over in New York the unheralded Soonwoo Kwon stunned Milos Raonic.
As for the WTA Tour, Johanna Konta’s early-season woes continue as the British No 1 suffered another early exit, this time in St Petersburg.
What’s in the news
United States President Donald Trump is a big admirer of Rafael Nadal and he previously called the 19-time Grand Slam winner a “great treasure for Spain”.
The feeling is not mutual though as in that same report by AS.com, Nadal admitted he is not a fan of Trump saying: “It is true that I don’t care for his manner of speaking — his way of expressing himself is not a style I appreciate.”
However, that has not put Trump off as the US commander in chief wants Nadal to attend a state dinner at the White House for the King and Queen of Spain.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia are set to visit the White House on April 21 and ABC.es reports that Trump is keen to have Nadal at the event.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) Nadal will be playing in the Monte-Carlo Masters during that time.
A documentary about two-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka will be coming to Netflix, thanks to media outlet Uninterrupted, who was also involved in the HBO docu Being Serena.
“This documentary series takes us on a journey with the multiple Grand Slam Champion, Naomi Osaka, who became the first Asian player to reach the number 1 singles ranking after winning her first Grand Slam at the US Open in 2018 and second at the Australian Open in 2019. With unprecedented access to Osaka, the documentary gives audiences a deep window into the life of a global tennis superstar,” a Netflix media release said.
How about this to bring a smile to your face.
Two penguins, named after Andy Murray and his dad, have shown off their chick at St Andrews Aquarium, reports STV.tv (they have a video).

You can take a Canadian out of Canada, but you can’t take Canada out of the Canadian. Vasek Pospisil has become a bit of an internet sensation for his use of Maple Syrup during matches.
