Have you read our exclusive interview with WTA chief Micky Lawler? If not, then treat yourself. Is it time we started seeing more female coaches at the top of the game?
Sticking with the WTA, Bianca Andreescu’s season has come to a premature end, and it’s not sounding all that great on the injury front.
Everything is looking pretty rosy for Andy Murray on the injury front, on the other hand, which is an amazing thing to be able to say after his personal hell.
His brother Jamie Murray has, of course, seen more of Andy’s struggles than anybody, and he has been pretty glowing about his baby bro’s strength.
And where do you stand on Roger Federer’s decision to quit the ATP Cup? Read our take here.
Whats in the news
We have perhaps THE rarest if rare things in tennis: an unwanted Roger Federer record.
We are used to seeing Feds top of the lists of just about any achievement you want to mention, but, as revealed by Tennishead, he has also lost more finals than any other male player in the Open era.
That said, where finals are concerned, you have to be in them to lose them, and a glance down the list shows Federer in some pretty impressive company, so even when it’s an unwanted record Federer comes out of it looking pretty darn awesome.
Ashleigh Barty, meanwhile, has been discussing her heart of gold to the Australian media.
“Trying to stay away from online shopping is my biggest issue,” Barty is quoted as saying by Fox Sports Australia.
“When I have that much time, I can go on and do a bit too much shopping.
“Today was actually some stuff for the RSPCA at home.
“I was doing a little bit of online shopping because I know they’re in need of kind of normal stuff for the cats and dogs and kind of everything at the RSPCA shelter.
“A little bit for them to give back to them when I’m back home in Australia at the end of the year. We’re really excited to do it.”
