Tennis Today: ‘Serena Williams looks like those monkeys at the zoo’ – TV host fined over racist attack

In Tennis Today, a Romanian TV host is punished entirely too leniently for some absolutely vile racist comments about the endlessly wonderful Serena Williams.
What’s on the site
Andy Murray has certainly never been one to fail to back himself – even as a 17-year-old, it seems.
The three-time Grand Slam winner said in his teens that his goal was to become world number one, and now we have the utterly adorable video proof – thanks to his mum.
Murray will be leading Great Britain at the ATP Cup in January, and he may need to find his best tennis before then given the quality of the line-up that has been confirmed for the inaugural event.
Speaking of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, they have been told by one true legend that they will never surpass Roger Federer in the GOAT debate no matter how many major titles they end up winning.
And Nadal has urged Grand Slams to resist calls to make one major rule change that he believes would strip us of matches like his US Open final against Daniil Medvedev.
What’s in the news
A Romanian TV host has been given a heft fine after he made clearly racist slurs about Serena Williams.
Radu Bancui, who presents a late-evening TV chow for B1 TV in Romania, who hit with the pretty paltry fine of €1,700 for comments he made in which he compared Williams to a monkey.
“Serena Williams looks like those monkeys at the zoo with the red butt,” Banciu said on TV, according to CNCD (the National Council for Combatting Discrimination).
“If you put some pants over that butt, they look exactly as Serena Williams looks on court.”
The CNCD was strong in its condemnation, saying in a press release: “Slavery was based, among other things, on comparing black people with monkeys.
“Consequently, such statements represent a form of extreme racism.”
Nick Kyrgios has a new tennis-playing girlfriend, according to an Australian newspaper.
News.com.au have done their social media homework with this one, combing social media for their evidence.
The article reads: “The mercurial Aussie hasn’t hidden his intentions for a fellow tennis star, 20-year-old Russian Anna Kalinskaya.
“Kalinskaya made waves at the US Open when she toppled American Sloane Stephens in the opening round.
“But it was on Instagram where things went up a level.
“Her last five posts on Instagram have all received love from the Aussie, with the comments ranging from “little monster” to “sleep now” and “oilyyyyyyyy”.”
You silver-tongued devil, you, Nick…
