In Tennis Today, the Wimbledon expansion vote has been likened to the Brexit referendum while Alexander Zverev and Marcelo Melo unveil their dance routine in the Maldives.
What’s on the site
In case you missed it, here is our latest EXCLUSIVE with Greg Rusedski, and this time he shares his thoughts on Andy Murray and whether the three-time Grand Slam winner can return to the top.
It’s a new month and that means we have a brand new addition of the A to Z of tennis with the November issue featuring a “rinsed” Andy Murray, a lack of love for Novak Djokovic and infantile booing, among other things.
We also have a nice quiz on ATP Finals champion Alexander Zverev. Do you know how many matches he won in 2018?
On the news front, Richard Krajicek gives his views on Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s retirement date.
Then there is Stefanos Tsitsipas who wants to emulate Roger Federer. Who doesn’t want to emulate Roger Federer?
Why has Maria Sharapova struggled since returning from her doping ban? A top Russian coach explains…
And finally, Justin Gimelstob has responded to assault allegations as Novak Djokovic ponders his fate.
What’s in the papers
The Daily Mail took the lead on the Wimbledon expansion throughout the year, but we haven’t had anything from them in recent months.
Their last story was on October 10 when they went with “Wimbledon clear major hurdle in bid to expand grounds as golf club vote to consider £65m bid for 73-acre land”.
The story, though, has been picked up by The Guardian and Rupert Neate has a nice piece on “The amateur golfers taking on the might of Wimbledon”.
The Wimbledon Park Golf Club members are being offered £85,000, but one member who is fighting the expansion says: “It’s like Brexit. You are either for it or against it. The offer has split members and put decades-long golf partnerships on the rocks.”
Serena Williams hosted a pop-up shop for The Serena Collection in Los Angeles and the Mailonline has you covered in terms of the celebrities who attended.
Staying with Serena, she has made Fabulous Magazine’s Women Of The Year list.
In more celebrity news, Anna Wintour “is making her way to Australian shores for the 2019 Australian Open”, reports Vogue Australia.
Express Sport also has a piece on Winter heading Down Under, but they went with the headline “Roger Federer gets Australian Open BOOST as super fan Anna Wintour confirms plans”.
“And having super-fan Wintour there will surely give him the boost he needs.”
Sure it does.
Bernard Tomic will use the Kooyong Classic as his warm-up event for the 2019 Australian Open, according to MSN.
What’s on social media
Maybe Alexander Zverev and Marcelo Melo should audition for Dancing With The Stars or Strictly Come Dancing?
And then there was Zverev showing off his female “friend”.
Marin Cilic getting his “vitamansea”…we are not jealous at all.
