With the Monte Carlo Masters over and Andrey Rublev claiming the title, let’s look back on the Russian star’s career to see how far he has come.

Rublev started his professional tennis career in 2014 at the age of 17. Since then, the star has won 13 ATP Tour singles titles, with his most recent one coming at the 2023 Monte Carlo Masters.

In 2017 the Russian star claimed his first title in the Croatian Open in Umag. His tournament was exciting, with many fantastic wins coming his way. However, the most exciting match came in the final against Paolo Lorenzi. Rublev won the match with a score of 6-4, 6-2, earning his first title.

His next title wouldn’t arrive until the 2019 Kremlin Cup in Moscow. The Russian star was proud after defeating Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 6-0, on home soil.

He then began the 2020 year in style by winning the ATP Qatar Open in Doha, where he met Corentin Moutet in the final. Their match ended 2-6, 6-7. In that same year, he went on to win four more titles. He continued his exciting year by winning the Adelaide International, where he faced Lloyd Harris in the final. The match ended 3-6, 0-6, giving the Russian a well-deserved title.

He continued his successful year by grabbing the 2020 Hamburg European Open title after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. His fourth title of 2020 came at the St. Petersburg Open, where he defeated Borna Coric with a score of 6-7, 4-6.

He then ended the 2020 year with a fifth title, where he won the Vienna Open. The star grabbed the win after an exciting final against Lorenzo Sonego, which ended 6-4, 6-4. Rublev then went on to win his eighth title at the ABN AMRO World Tennis tournament in Rotterdam. The star earned a spot in the final, beating Marton Fucsovics 6-7, 4-6.

In 2022 the Russian star went on to win four more titles, starting off with the Open 13, where he beat Felix Auger Aliassime 5-7, 6-7. He then continued his title push by beating Jiri Vesely 3-6, 4-6 in the Dubai Tennis Championship.

Rublev continued to dominate the titles by winning the Serbian Open after beating Novak Djokovic 2-6, 7-6, 0-6. He ended the year by claiming his 12th title by beating Sebastian Korda, 6-2, 6-3, in the Gijon final.

His most recent and biggest title win ever came in the recent Monte-Carlo Masters, where he beat Holger Rune 7-5, 2-6, 5-7 in the final, which earned him a well-deserved title. The win was massive for the Russian, which we could see by how he celebrated after his incredible performance.

Even though it was the most significant title he had ever won, his excitement didn’t make him forget to congratulate his opponent- a classy act from a brilliant player.

“I wanna congratulate Rune for the amazing week and your team. I mean, I know it’s tough to lose in a final. But, man, you are too freaking young man. You already have a 1000 title, at least give me one time to win it,” said Rublev after winning the Monte-Carlo Masters.

“I have tears and don’t know what to say, I’m just so happy. Finally, after struggling so much to win these 1000 tournaments. Losing 4-1 at 0-30, then break point, I’m thinking there’s no chance to win and somehow I did it,” Rublev said.

“Congrats to Andrey. It’s your first 1000 title, it’s huge. Congrats to your team as well. You’ve been working very very hard, you deserve it, and good luck for the future,” said a humble Rune after losing the final.
