There were actual complaints when Tennis TV opted not to show Nick Kyrgios live this week, and he certainly put on a real performance in his first match since that controversy.

The Australian faced Yoshihito Nishioka for a place in the quarter-finals of the Citi Open, and was more than up to the task with a 6-2, 7-5 success.

During the match, though, he almost delivered a Nick Kyrgios greatest hits collection…

There was an underarm serve, or at least an intention of one!

There was a wonderfully brilliant leaping forehand winner in real Michael Jordan style…

There was a casual ‘tweener followed by an unreal backhand winner…

There was some on-court football skills…

And, of course, there was an altercation with the umpire!

Kyrgios will next play in the final eight, where he will meet Slovakian Norbert Gombos.
