WATCH: Daniil Medvedev shows anger at ball boy, throws racket, and flips finger to US Open crowd

Daniil Medvedev came through a tough third-round match against Feliciano Lopez to advance into the last 16 of the US Open, but it wasn’t without controversy.
The Russian fifth-seed, seen as many as the dark horse for the title in New York, lost his cool with a ball boy over a towel and promptly received a code violation.
That only seemed to antagonise Medvedev further, and he confronted the umpire, Damien Dumusois, after appearing to throw his racket towards him.
Still upset, Medvevev then flipped a sneaky finger at the booing crowd – which Dumusois also saw.

Dumusois once again confronted the Russian, saying: “Daniil, can we talk?
“I cannot give you a code because of what I saw on the screen. I have to see it myself,” Dumusois said.
Medvedev, however, did win the match, beating Lopez 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 to set up a last 16 clash with Dominik Koepfer.
Elsewhere, Stan Wawrinka overcame Paolo Lorenzi 6-4, 7-6 (11-9), 7-6 (7-4) and will now face Novak Djokovic.
There were also wins for Marin Cilic, Grigor Dimitrov, and Roger Federer, but Kei Nishikori crashed out to Australian Alex De Minaur.
Rafael Nadal plays his third-round match on Saturday against South Korean Hyeon Chung.
