The official trailer for Carlos Alcaraz: My Way is out – and it looks like tennis fans could be in for a treat.

Netflix released the trailer for the documentary, which will be released on April 23, on Thursday afternoon, and there is plenty to digest from the two-and-a-half-minute clip.

Star cameos

Alcaraz is, of course, the star of the documentary, but he is not the only superstar that looks set to feature in the Netflix special.

The official trailer includes clips of interviews not only with Alcaraz, but several other past tennis stars – most notably Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

The inclusion of both men, in particular Nadal, is not a major surprise, though the official confirmation will likely draw more fans in when it comes to watching the documentary.

Nadal is shown talking about the sacrifices that Alcaraz, himself and other stars need to make to achieve greatness, while Federer is briefly shown discussing the demands put on leading tennis players.

Also included are Garbine Muguruza, a two-time Grand Slam champion and former WTA world No 1, and Juan Carlos Ferrero – Alcaraz’s long-time coach.

Ferrero looks set to provide insight into his relationship with the four-time Grand Slam champion, who he has coached since a teenager.

Footage of 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and other tennis players such as Pablo Carreno Busta is also included in the trailer.

Highs and lows of 2024

Alcaraz’s 2024 season was full of peaks and troughs – and the documentary looks set to depict many of them.

Naturally, footage from his historic French Open and Wimbledon triumphs is included, as is celebration footage from those victories.

There are also clips from his China Open triumph, though the documentary looks set to focus not only on his season’s positives.

Alcaraz is seen smashing his racket during last summer’s second-round exit at the Cincinnati Open, and again during November’s ATP Tour finals – where he failed to make it out the group.

Quest for greatness

The documentary seems to focus on Alcaraz’s quest for greatness, but at what cost will that come at?

Alcaraz’s ambitions throughout the documentary are clear, though he is also shown wrestling with the challenge of being away from friends and family for so long.

There is footage of him at home with his friends and family during the year, with his father, Carlos Snr, also interviewed as part of the documentary.

When can I watch?

Carlos Alcaraz: My Way will be released on April 23, 2025, during this year’s Madrid Open – where the Spaniard will be looking to win his third title.
