Gallery: The story from a scorching day two at the 2018 US Open

Here is our story from the second day of the 2018 US Open at Flushing Meadows.
Petra Kvitova was feeling the heat, but she still managed to book her second-round ticket with a two-set win.
Andrea Petkovic was pumped, but she went down in three sets against Jelena Ostapenko.
Caroline Wozniacki kept her cool.
Mikhail Youzhny was one of several players needing court-side treatment for heat exhaustion.
And Novak Djokovic was another.
Although, in fairness, the scene was absolutely spectacular.
And the view is always improved by the arrival of a leaping Roger Federer.
Nick Kyrgios awaits for Federer in round three if the pair can avoid defeat in round two. Exciting!
