Petra Kvitova warns ‘a few players will definitely not go’ if US Open restrictions stay the same

Two-time Grand Slam winner Petra Kvitova is the latest to raise doubts about the 2020 US Open, saying “a few players will definitely not go” if the coronavirus restrictions remain unchanged.
The hard-court Grand Slam was given the green light to take place from August 31-September 13, but it will be hosted without spectators while strict health and safety protocols will be in place due to Covid-19.
However, several players have raised concerns about the quarantine and entourage rules while others are worried about the recent surge in coronavirus cases in the United States.
Dominic Thiem insists players need ‘three or four’ entourage members to compete at US Open
“I know a few players will definitely not go if the restrictions are like they are now,” Kvitova told BBC 5 Live.
She added: “I’m still thinking of what everything will look like, what the restrictions will be, how many people we can take and if they quarantine us.”
The US Open will become the first Grand Slam to be played without fans and Kvitova admits she can’t really see it happening, but insists she is yet to make a final decision about whether or not she will play at Flushing Meadows.
“Playing without the fans in Grand Slams, I can’t really see it,” the world No 12 said.
“If that happens and everything is OK I will go for sure to compete but there’s still a chance I will not go. I will decide when I know everything.”
