Andy Murray unceremoniously dumped out of the men’s doubles at Wimbledon

Andy Murray agony at Wimbledon

Andy Murray and Pierre-Hugues Herbert have been dumped out of the Wimbledon men’s doubles by the hugely impressive Croatian duo Nikola Mektic and Franko Skugor.

Murray has delayed his singles return to focus on doubles for now, as he stress-tests his surgically repaired hip.

That has included winning the Queen’s doubles title with Feliciano Lopez, but there will be no repeat for Murray at Wimbledon.

It started well for Murray, as he and Herbert won a first-set tiebreak to establish a good lead in the match.

However, it all started to unravel quite quickly afterwards as Metkic and Skugor, the sixth-seeds, started to assert their doubles pedigree – before eventually winning 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-2, 6-3.

Murray will attempt to go again in the mixed doubles later on Saturday, though, in which he is partnering American legend Serena Williams.
