Carlos Alcaraz preparing for ‘uncomfortable’ conversation with his parents after Wimbledon win
Carlos Alcaraz enjoyed one of the best days of his life as he won the Wimbledon title for a second time and then watched Spain win the Euro 2024 final against England.
Yet he has admitted an uncomfortable conversation now lies in wait with his parents as he looks to add to his tattoo collection after he defended his Wimbledon crown.
Alcaraz has made a habit of getting a tattoo after his Grand Slam triumphs, but this plan is starting to get a little more complicated as he notches up major tournament wins at a rapid rate.
The Spaniard got a tattoo after his 2022 US Open win and backed that up by getting a second inking after his first Wimbledon win last year.
Now he is planning another tattoo to go with the Eiffel Tower image he has planned to printed on his skin after last month’s French Open, but it seems his parents are not entirely happy with this habit.
Alcaraz’s parents Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez and Virginia Garfia Escandon cheered their son on from the players’ box at Wimbledon on Sunday, with the embrace they shared with their son after he climbed up to celebrate his win with his family one of the most touching moments of the day.
Yet they may be concerned by his promise to get another tattoo, as he revealed in an interview with Tennis Channel.
“I told my parents just to calm them that it was just the first one in every major (he would get a tattoo), but this is a really big moment,” said Alcaraz.
“Probably I’m going to put the date of this one next to last year’s. I have to discuss with them.
“The Eiffel Tower one, I didn’t do it yet but I will for sure. This one, I have to talk with them. A little one I can hide.”

Is Carlos Alcaraz the greatest 21-year-old tennis has seen – or were other young stars better?
Alcaraz also revealed he is going to take a more responsible approach to celebrate his fourth Grand Slam title.
The 21-year-old went partying with his friends in Ibiza after he won the French Open, with images of him dancing and singing inevitably appearing on social media.
Yet he will not be repeating that plan as he is going to take some more gentle time away from the court as he looks forward to a return to playing on clay at the Olympic Games later this month, where he will play doubles with Rafael Nadal.
“I talked to my friends that I went to Ibiza with, last year went pretty well,” he added. “This year it’s going to be a routine, you know every year. I had a few days to go to Ibiza (after the French Open), but this time I will celebrate at home with my friends and family.
“I have huge expectations for the Olympic Games. To be in the village with all the Spanish athletes will be a beautiful moment for me.
“When the tournament comes around, I’m going for the title. To bring the gold medal for my country. Then when I play with Rafa, we want to try and win the gold medal.”
Alcaraz is heading into the Olympics as the form player in the men’s game and after his Grand Slam win at Roland Garros last month, he will return to the same venue targeting two gold medals.
