Novak Djokovic overcomes Kei Nishikori hurdle to reach Wimbledon last four

Novak Djokovic reached his eighth Wimbledon semi-final with a four-set win over Kei Nishikori.

The Japanese player threatened to take the match to five sets, but the three-time Wimbledon winner turned the screws at the right time to win 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Djokovic took the first courtesy a crucial break in game eight, but Nishikori hit back in the second set with a single break in game four.

It was one-way traffic in set three with the Serb claiming two breaks, but Nishikori put the pressure back on the 12th seed with a break in game one of the fourth.

However, he then lost his next two service games as Djokovic opened a 4-1 lead and he eventually sealed the deal with a third break of serve.

The 12-time Grand Slam winner, who is into his first Wimbledon semi-final since 2015, will face either Rafael Nadal or Juan Martin del Potro for a place in the final.
