Novak Djokovic wary of tests to come after easing himself into Wimbledon quarter-finals

Novak Djokovic comfortably moved into the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the 11th time after a hugely impressive win over Ugo Humbert.

The world number one and top seed was in brilliant form, needing just 102 minutes to secure his spot in the last eight.

Only Roger Federer can better Djokovic’s record when it comes to reaching the quarters at SW19, and that’s something the Serb seemed to take immense pride in.

“That’s always the aim to reach the final stages of Grand Slams,” Djokovic said after his 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 win.

“These are the biggest events in our sport so I always try to set my form so I can play my best at these tournaments.

“Wimbledon has been a special tournament which has motivated me throughout my life.

“While I was a child I was always dreaming I could play here one day. I try not to take things for granted but we keep on going.”

Next up for Djokovic is a match-up with Belgian David Goffin, a player that, remarkable, the Serb has never faced before on grass.

It is, however, not a player he will be taking lightly.

“He is definitely one of the quickest players on the tour,” Djokovic said.

“He has got phenomenal footwork where most players are not in the balance. I would highlight that as the bets part of his game.

“He has been a top 10 players and beaten top players. He is as consistent as anybody else and is getting back to top form after injury.

“He has been playing really well this tournament so it will be a tough test for both of us.”
