Serena Williams continues to voice her concerns over the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s testing programme as she believes she is “being unfairly targeted for more samples than anyone else”.
A Deadspin piece revealed last week that she had been tested more than any other player in the United States, male or female, so far this year.
In Telegraph Sport she says: “Until I read that article, I didn’t realise it was such a discrepancy with me against the other players that they listed.”
Federer, meanwhile, revealed he has been tested seven times so far this month alone, but he has a tester living in the same village in Switzerland so it is “very convenient”.
Staying with Williams and Telegraph Sport, physiologist Jim Pate has done a very good piece on “How Serena Williams got ready for Wimbledon – nine months after giving birth”.
He looks at the pelvis, cardiovascular, hips, arms and brain exercises she has had to do.
Andy Murray may have withdrawn from Wimbledon, but the Sportsmail reports “in Katie Swan, he has a horse in the race” as she is part of his management company 77.
“I’m mentored by Andy, so, really it’s a dream come true for me. It’s really cool when I think about it,” she said.
And then there was also this: “We haven’t actually spent much time talking about tennis, more kind of other stuff… Love Island.”
Also in Sportsmail, tennis coach “Brad Gilbert gives the lowdown on the contenders at Wimbledon” and he warns that “Roger Federer is serving better than ever in terms of accuracy”.
In The Guardian, Judy Murray says “Tennis is due its own #MeToo moment and women should be able to speak out about abuse they have suffered within the game.”
“It only needs one person to start it off.”
Meanwhile, The Guardian also has “Unfazed Kyle Edmund living the dream as British No 1 at Wimbledon”.
“It is a very privileged position to be in. It will be my first time at Wimbledon in that position, so I don’t know what to expect but it’s a nice problem to have,” he is quoted as saying.
The Independent also has a “legendary tennis coach” writing for them and Nick Bollettieri says “Roger Federer will win his ninth Wimbledon title despite the rise of Sascha Zverev and the young generation”.
Credit to The Sun for coming up with “WIMBOILDON” as “we are set for the ‘hottest Wimbledon ever'”.
“Britain’s scorching summer could see the tennis tournament’s hottest average temperature of 30.8C toppled this year.”
Express Sport goes with “Roger Federer: Rafael Nadal and I are like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi”.
But Federer was asked if there are similarities between his rivalry with Nadal and that of Messi and Ronaldo and he replied: “Sure, yeah. They have a long-standing rivalry. I have the same with Rafa.
“They’re very different from one another. I guess there’s some similarities there as well. As similar as we are, Rafa and myself, we’re still very different on many levels. I think it’s pretty much the same for them.similarities between the two rivalries.”
