Wimbledon draw: Brutal quarter features Ash Barty, Angelique Kerber, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova
The current world No 1 could face the Wimbledon defending champion in the quarter-final at Wimbledon as Ashleigh Barty and Angelique Kerber find themselves in the same quarter of the draw.
French Open champion Barty will kick off her campaign at the All England Club against Zheng Saisai from China and she could face two-time Grand Slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova in the second round while a potential clash against former Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza could be on the cards in the third round.

Fifth seed Kerber faces fellow German Tatjana Maria first up, but the danger lurking in her section comes in the form of 11th seed Serena Williams, who faces Giulia Gatto-Monticone in the first round.
Maria Sharapova also finds herself in section two and the former Wimbledon champion faces Pauline Parmentier in the first round.
It’s a heavy-loaded top half as third seed Kiki Bertens, sixth seed Petra Kvitova and ninth seed Sloane Stephens are also in there.
Bertens faces Minella, Kvitova takes on Ons Jabeur and Stephens is up against Timea Bacsinszky.
British No 1 Johanna Konta is also in the section four alongside Kvitova and Stephens and she will face Romanian qualifier Ana Bogdan first up.

Two-time Grand Slam winner and world No 2 Naomi Osaka is the big draw in the bottom half and the Japanese player opens up against Yulia Putintseva with Caroline Wozniacki a potential fourth-round opponent.
Seventh seed Simona Halep takes on Aliaksandra Sasnovich with 10th seed Aryna Sabelenka, who faces Magdalena Rybarikova in round one, a possible fourth-round opponent.
However, Sabelenka could meet 39-year-old Venus Williams or 15-year-old Cori Gauff in the second round as the two Americans will square off in the first round.
