The flourishing romance between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa has been the talk of tennis in recent weeks, but it is another love story that will capture the headlines in the UK media over the next few days.

British number one Katie Boulter will play mixed doubles with Australian boyfriend Alex De Minaur at Wimbledon, with this story certain to capture headlines before they appear on court together for the first time.

The pair are one of the highest-profile couples in tennis and, having supported each other court-side on many occasions, they will now be on the same side of the net in competitive action.

Boulter and De Minaur will face Australian duo Storm Hunter and John Peers in the first round, with the photographer’s cameras certainly to be flashing as the loved-up duo take to the courts at Wimbledon.

Boulter won her first round singles match at Wimbledon on Wednesday, as she beat Australia’s Daria Saville in straight sets.

That win backed up her first WTA Tour title in Nottingham last month and secured the Brit an increased presence in her national media, with her presence as the cover star of this month’s Tatler magazine evidence of her star quality.

Boulter’s romance with the dashing De Minaur started in March 2020, with the couple boosting their social media accounts with images of their life together.

“She’s amazing,” declared De Minaur. “I guess it’s the beauty of us being both in the same sport. We kind of understand each other.
”We know what to expect, how we can help each other in certain situations.

“Tennis is a very stressful lifestyle, as it is. It’s always great to have a partner that you can kind of count on, help you out here and there.

“It works both ways. I’m there to help her when she needs it. We kind of know what to say in certain situations ’cause we’re in the same world, which is always good.”

For her part, Boulter has suggested De Minaur has added to her happiness away from the court, as she insisted her increased media profile has not affected her focus.

“I haven’t seen any of the newspapers,” she said with a smile, as she commented on her inflated profile.

“I am here feeling very privileged to be British No 1. I have to get a job done and keep grounded. I need to work as much as possible to keep as ready as ever.

“I have an incredible team, boyfriend and friends around me who are super level-headed and keep me grounded.”

It has also been confirmed that Tsitsipas and Badosa will play in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon, so the crowds at the All England Club will be flocking to watch the two highest profile tennis couples compete for a title on the famous grass courts.
