Anastasjia Sevastova bests Petra Martic to claim Bucharest Open title
Anastasjia Sevastova has won the Bucharest Open after besting Petra Martic 7-6-6-2.
The top seeded Latvian was runner-up in the tournament two years ago when home favourite and current world number one Simona Halep got the best of her.
However, she rose to the occasion this time around to claim her third WTA Tour career title.

Croatian Martic won the pair’s only previous meeting, in the 2017 French Open, but wasn’t able to stop Sevastova this time around.
âPetra, weâve known each other so, so long, and youâre a great player, youâre amazing,â she said of her opponent.
âYouâll be in many finals, Iâm sure of it. A great tournament here.â
