Ashleigh Barty confident she will be ‘alright to go’ in China

World No 1 Ashleigh Barty is confident she will be fit for the China Open, saying “I’m sure we will have no issue”.
The French Open champion struggled to move due to a calf injury and also called for a medical timeout during her Japan Open semi-final defeat at the hands of Aryna Sabalenka.
She doesn’t have too much time to recover as she will be back in action in Beijing on Monday as she will take on Yulia Putintseva in the second-round.
“I haven’t been on court since my match in Wuhan,” Barty said.
“We’ll look to get on court this afternoon (for practice) and kind of test it out.
“From how it’s been going, it’s been marginally better than we expected, which is good.
“I’m sure that we’ll have no issue. It’s just about now ticking the boxes and making sure it’s alright to go.”
