Wozniacki and Halep progress in Qatar but Konta is out

Caroline Wozniacki moved into the quart-finals of the Qatar Open afer overcoming Monica Niculescu in straight sets.
The Australian Open champion and reigning world number one had to dig deep against the Romanian in the first set, but the second was much more straight forward and she safely progressed 7-5 6-1.
She’ll face Angelique Kerber in the nextround after the former world number one recovered to beat Great Britain’s Johanna Konta 1-6 6-1 6-3.
Petra Kvitova racked up a 10th straight win to overcome Elina Svitolina 6-4 7-5, while qualifier CiCi Bellis shocked defending champion Karolina Pliskova.
Australian Open runner-up Simona Halep now lies in wait for the 18-year-old American.
Julia Goerges, Garbine Muguruza and Caroline Garcia are also through after wins.
