Coco Gauff overcomes Amanda Anisimova to reach semi-finals in Parma

Coco Gauff won the battle of the American teenagers with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Amanda Anisimova to reach the semi-finals of the Emilia-Romagna Open.

Gauff, 17, a semi-finalist in Italy last week, dispatched her 19-year-old compatriot in an hour and 20 minutes.

“I was pretty satisfied with the way I played,” Gauff told her press conference afterwards.

“I do think I could have served a little bit better, but other than that, I was pretty happy with the way I played today.”

Gauff will face Katerina Siniakova, who beat Caroline Garcia 7-5 6-1, in the last four.

The second semi-final sees Sloane Stephens, who beat Sara Errani 6-3 6-0, meet Qiang Wang after a 7-6 (4) 3-6 7-5 win over Petra Martic.

At the rain-hit Serbia Open in Belgrade Maria, Camila Osorio Serrano beat Kamilla Rakhimova 4-6 6-3 6-4.
