CoCo Vandeweghe stunned by Aleksandra Krunic fight back at the Libema Open

Seventh seed Aleksandra Krunic is through to the Libema Open final after beating two-time champion CoCo Vandeweghe 2-6 7-6 7-6.

The American looked to be cruising at 6-2 4-2 up midway through the second set, but didn’treckon with Krunic’s spirit as she fought back doggedly.

“I’m a little surprised, proud of myself and very happy. She’s an awesome player and very powerful, and it’s challenging for me to play against those players,” Krunic told WTA.

“I was very happy that I was able to fight because I was a set and a break down and it’s never easy – especially against CoCo.”

She’ll now face Kirsten Flipkens in the final after she overcame Viktoria Flipkens 7-5 6-7 6-4 in the other semi-final.
